It was a night several months in the making for Marc Staal on Monday, who played just his second NHL-caliber game since early March following a devastating eye injury. Sporting a tinted visor, Staal suited up and played top-pair minutes in team's preseason-opening defeat against the New Jersey Devils.
After the game, Staal spoke to reporters about the game, any differences he felt during it, generating offense from the blueline, his first few shifts and more.
Meanwhile, Danny Kristo got his first taste of big league action, picking up an assist on Dominic Moore's third period goal. Kristo spoke about the opportunity that is being given to him by the Rangers, his goal to make the team out of camp, getting traded to New York, his near-goal in the closing moments, his assist on Moore's goal, how he felt playing with NHLers, his relationship with Brian Boyle and more.
Lastly, Cam Talbot discussed his game and playing with an even keel following Alain Vigneault's comments earlier this week that he is in contention for the backup role.
