He may not have had as sexy a resume as his teammates Mark Messier, Brian Leetch, Mike Richter, Adam Graves, Steve Larmer, or Alexei Kovalev---to name a few---but Jay Wells was an integral part of the Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup championship winning team. A rugged, stay-at-home defenseman, Wells was an important and consistent member of that team, and was, at the time, a veteran who was hungry to drink from the Cup for the first time in his long career.
Recently Jim Cerny from BlueshirtsUnited.com caught up with Wells to discuss the summer of 1993---now 20 years ago---and where the Rangers stood heading into that magical 1993-94 season. The two also spoke about coaching and coaches, including those who helped influenced Wells' current coaching career.
