After the closeness of each game this series between the Rangers and Capitals, many predicted another one-goal game would be in the works for Game 7. That wasn’t the case, as the Rangers erupted for five goals to shutout the Capitals and advance to take on the Boston Bruins in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After the game, Rangers coach John Tortorella called Monday’s game probably the best his team has played all series.
