The Rangers went into Game 7 in Washington and took care of business, routing the Capitals, 5-0, to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins. Arron Asham opened the scoring in the first period with a slap shot that beat Braden Holtby. The Rangers extended their lead to three on goals from Taylor Pyatt and Michael Del Zotto, and blew the game open in the third with goals by Ryan Callahan and Mats Zuccarello. Henrik Lundqvist made 35 saves for his second consecutive shutout.
