Marian Gaborik had gone eight straight games without scoring a goal, but he made it worth the wait when he broke through 42 seconds into overtime Thursday night to lift the Rangers to a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum.
Gaborik positioned himself in the high slot, accepted a feed from Rick Nash, and then blasted a slap shot through a screen in front for his eighth goal of the season, extending the Rangers winning streak to a season-high four games.
