Joseph Ruggiero, who has spent nearly 30 years coaching youth hockey players at all skill levels, was honored by the Rangers Feb. 19 on Youth Hockey Night at The Garden as the sixth winner of the Emile Francis Award. The award, presented to Ruggiero by native New Yorkers and former Blueshirts Nick Fotiu and Brian Mullen, honors a person who has worked tirelessly to grow the game of hockey in the Tri-State area.
Ruggiero, a Pelham, N.Y. resident, has coached in house leagues, high school leagues, and now works with the New York Raptors as part of USA Hockey's Special Hockey program. Hear from Ruggiero and some of his players on their big night at The Garden in this video recap of the awards ceremony.
