Marc Staal and Chris Kreider are at different stages of their NHL, and Ranger, careers. Staal is a veteran defenseman, an NHL All Star two years ago, and currently an alternate captain on the Rangers. Kreider, despite a dramatic 5-goal entry into the NHL during the Stanley Cup playoffs last spring, is a rookie fighting for a spot on the opening night roster.
Despite these differences, bot Staal and Kreider are more content to let the past remain in the past and be more concerned about the present. For Staal that means not thinking too much about last season when he missed nearly half the year due to a concussion; and for Kreider it's all about not focusing at all on his playoff success, and instead placing his focus on the day-to-day challenge of becoming an NHL player.
