Rangers head coach John Tortorella admitted after his team's 3-1 victory in Game One over the Capitals that the series "is going to be a grind". Still he was quite pleased with how his team stuck to its identity and did not waver despite allowing a late second period goal. Torts was also extremely pleased with the play of rookie Chris Kreider and veteran Ruslan Fedotenko, among others.
