Three Stars of the Week: Oct. 27 — Nov. 3

By Sebastian Melo, Rangers Fan Since '94

The New York Rangers entered the week on a high note after defeating Detroit 3-2 in Saturday’s OT thriller. The team rode that momentum into Monday’s home opener against the Montreal Canadiens and, despite the loss, we saw more signs that the team is beginning to execute the Alain Vigneault coaching strategy.

Then the Rangers began to shine, winning three in a row despite playing without Ryan Callahan and Rick Nash. They defeated the New York Islanders, 3-2, on Tuesday night, and followed it up with a shutout win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Blueshirts finished the week with a statement, 5-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night at MSG, which saw Derek Stepan score a hat trick and Carl Hagelin net two more.
