Metropolitan Division Preview: Flyers

Jim Cerny

The Philadelphia Flyers have long been one of the Rangers most fierce rivals, and that won’t change one bit just because the two teams now play in a newly-named division. The animosity felt on the ice---and in the stands---is intense and it is real, and it will continue once again this season when the rivals face one another four times.

The Flyers are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished in tenth place in the Eastern Conference, six points out of a playoff spot. With the Metropolitan Division even more competitive this season, Philly has their work cut out for them in trying to avoid two straight seasons on the outside looking in come April.

With the Rangers once again seen as division favorites, these four games played between New York and Philadelphia will carry much importance in 2013-14.
